60 Tampa Bay companies make Inc. 5000

Inc. magazine expanded this year's Inc. 500 ranking of privately held companies to 5,000, and 60 in the Tampa Bay area made the list based on averaged year-over-year sales growth over the past three years.
One Bay area company, Medialynx Group in Sarasota with 611.6 percent growth and 2006 annual revenue of $2.6 million, made the Inc. 500.
The 10 fastest growing Bay area companies according to the Inc. 5000 are Medialynx, Clockwork Home Services in Sarasota with 418.7 percent growth and 2006 revenue of $114.4 million, Rent a Coder in Tampa with 336.2 percent growth and 2006 revenue of $2.1 million, Gould & Lamb in Bradenton with 334.3 percent growth and 2006 revenue of $30.3 million, Acuity Solutions in Tampa with 321.9 percent growth and 2006 revenue of $13 million, The Gaelic Trading Co. in Oldsmar with 269.4 percent growth and 2006 revenue of $17.5 million, Freightcenter in Clearwater with 256.2 percent growth and 2006 revenue of $11.3 million, Bayshore Solutions in Tampa with 235.6 percent growth and 2006 revenue of $4.7 million, Amscot Financial in Tampa with 216.4 percent growth and 2006 revenue of $84.4 million and Sharn Veterinary in Tampa with 213.2 percent growth and 2006 revenue of $4.9 million.
Twenty-six Florida companies made the Inc. 500.
California, with 81, has the most companies in the top 500. It is followed by Texas and Virginia.
New York tied Florida at fourth.
For the fifth year in a row Washington is the top metropolitan area with 40 of the fastest-growing companies, down from 43 in 2006. New York is second with 38, followed by San Francisco, Los Angeles and Boston.
