FreightCenter.com and SMC³ Announce New Technology Partnership

Published in Commercial Carrier Journal - April 27, 2011

Freight transportation software developer SMC³ and transportation management system provider FreightCenter.com announced a new technology partnership to introduce what the companies describe as a more advanced and all-inclusive TMS solution. The alliance marks the integration of the SMC³ RateWare XL rating solution with CarrierConnect carrier data into the recently-introduced FreightCenter.com TMS product. The FreightCenter.com TMS also provides access to PC Miler through Rateware XL, which allows companies to access accurate mileage.

"When developing our TMS solution, our goal was to develop the most complete system currently on the market for our customers," says Matthew Brosious, chief executive officer and co-founder of FreightCenter.com. "The partnership with SMC³ really solidifies our goal to continuously strive to introduce key innovative technology and go above and beyond to give our customers an all-inclusive solution."

This new partnership follows a recent announcement of an interface created between RateWare XL and ALK Technologies’ PC Miler Web Services. RateWare XL combines carrier-specific rates with CarrierConnect points of service and transit times to provide a complete view of less-than-truckload rating and pricing across an enterprise. The service-oriented architecture for RateWare XL is Web-based and run through a single API and point of access, meaning there is no software to install upon implementation. Data is updated continuously, facilitating accurate carrier data and rates that can be used for efficient route planning optimization.

"Today’s market dynamics require a comprehensive transportation management solution," says Brad Gregory, vice president of product strategy and software alliances for SMC³. "FreightCenter.com’s focus and commitment to bringing their customers leading-edge technology continually strengthens their position within the industry."

The FreightCenter.com TMS offers back-end technology that includes custom rates, automated quoting, booking, scheduling, tracking, a built-in CRM system, flexible and secure controls for users and customers, and extensive reporting. Through its partnership with SMC³, FreightCenter.com says its TMS will offer customers a more complete software package that includes accurate rating, mileage, and routing for shipping.

"The technology behind the SMC³ RateWare XL in addition to PC Miler access was an integral part of developing our transportation technology to establish a firm foundation for a long-term relationship with SMC³," says Doug Walls, chief information officer for FreightCenter.com.
