Feel Good Friday: Celebrating A Milestone

by Nadia Brosious

This is a special post for us! We’re highlighting how one of our FreightCenter team member’s families celebrates their graduating high school seniors in a fun, cool way. Like many other families, people try to find creative ways to celebrate milestones while social distancing. Events like birthdays, weddings and baby showers, graduation celebrations, and more are being held virtually or in other innovative ways. Instead of gathering together to celebrate birthdays, people are taking to the streets and driving by friends and family members to wave and honk their car horns. Others are putting handmade congratulations signs in people’s yards to celebrate. Check out how one of our FreightCenter team members’ families is celebrating, and get some ideas for your next big event here.

Celebrating in A Big Way

Since schools nationwide are doing virtual classes, students and teachers are trying to make the best of this challenging situation. This is especially true for this year’s graduating high school seniors, who aren’t able to participate in typical senior year festivities.

One of our team members’ family was trying to think of ways to celebrate their daughter’s high school graduation, and they decided to do something extra special to show their pride. They turned their garage door into a giant poster to honor her and her accomplishments with photos of their daughter with her friends and family.

In addition, they included letters from some of her favorite teachers. They stated that their daughter worked so hard to maintain a high GPA during high school, and they wanted to do something special for her.

Do You Have a Big Event Coming Up?

If you or your family has a big event coming up and you need ideas for ways to celebrate, consider getting extra creative until you can celebrate in person again. For example, if you have a bridal shower or baby shower coming up, consider doing a virtual shower over a group video chat platform like Zoom or Google Hangouts. Museums and art galleries hold virtual tours, allowing you to travel the world from your couch.

For any type of gift-giving occasion, you could have a party in a box. Have friends and family contribute to the box with gifts, cards, and fun decorations. Write fun memories in the cards to share virtually. Send the box to the recipient and have a virtual party for them.

Start planning the in-person party for later when things are back to normal so you have something fun to look forward to.
