What Is Freightways?
The term freightways originally meant any freight truck route or lane. Today, Freightways usually refers to a number of asset-based logistics companies held by similar name, such as Consolidated Freightways, which got its start in 1929 in Portland, Oregon. The multinational less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier also founded the Freightliner line of heavy haul trucks. Today, Consolidated Freightways is known as Con-way Trucking, which was acquired by XPO Logistics.
