First Mile Shipping involves transporting goods by courier to an end customer, but with additional steps in between. These steps may be dismantling and packaging, inside pickup, stair carries, lift gate equipment, and manual labor to lift and carry.

If you need warehousing and white glove service, then First Mile service is exemplary. FreightCenter works with an extensive network of logistics partners to coordinate the removal and installation of a shipped product. This process could involve storing the product for a later delivery date, which is helpful when the destination address is unknown at the pickup time.

DO I NEED TWO CARRIERS?

Not necessarily. In the case where all you need is a lift gate or inside pickup, most carriers offer that service at an additional cost. Some carriers may also handle short-term warehousing or white glove service as well. The selected carrier may work with one or more third-party companies to complete the project. WHAT IS LAST-MILE DELIVERY?

Last or Final Mile delivery is the opposite of First Mile service. Opposite to inspecting or removing goods at pickup, the goods are installed or set up at the delivery time.
