How to Make Shipping Chandeliers Easy and Affordable
Whether you’re buying or selling chandeliers, FreightCenter makes shipping chandeliers easy and affordable for you. Follow the suggestions on this page and you’ll see how.
Chandelier shipping often includes these types:
-
Uplight chandeliers
-
Downlight chandeliers
-
Cluster chandeliers
-
Pendant chandeliers
-
Pendant bowl chandeliers
A small chandelier that meets size and weight requirements can be shipped as a parcel.
Freight shipping large, costly chandeliers is done via LTL (less-than-truckload) hauls. Whichever type of shipping you need, FreightCenter can handle it for you.
How Do You Prepare Chandeliers for Ltl Shipping?
You save money with LTL (less-than-truckload) shipping because your shipment shares the truck with loads from other shippers. It’s important that your cargo be packaged so it will not be damaged in transit and will not present a danger to other shipments on the truck.
With chandeliers, you can’t afford to shortcut the packaging. Start by removing all the bulbs, wrapping each bulb individually and placing them in a box. Protect the arms of the chandelier with paper products or bubble wrap. Secure the chandelier inside a double-walled box or crate, making sure to insulate the chandelier from the sides, bottom and top of the container with a bubble or foam packaging product. If you are using a box, shrink wrap it and band it to the center of a pallet. A well-made crate will be attached to a pallet.
For parcel shipping use a double-sided box and follow all of the same instructions as above, but you will not need a pallet. With parcel shipping, because boxes on parcel trucks can shift easily, be extra careful with how you protect the chandelier inside the box.
What Is the Nmfc (Freight Class) for Shipping Chandeliers?
The freight class for shipping a glass chandelier is 200. This number will come in handy when you fill out our online quote form. If you are shipping items in addition to the chandelier, use our our Freight Class Lookup table.
