ABF started as a local freight hauler in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and operated under OK Transfer.
1935 – OK Transfer acquired Arkansas Motor Freight (AMF) and operated under their name.
1956 – Arkansas Motor Freight acquired Best Motor Freight and became Arkansas Best Freight System Inc. A year later named ABF.
In the early ’70s, ABF becomes a public company listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
In the early ’90s, ABF is traded on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange.
In 2014 Arkansas Best is renamed to ArcBest Corporation.
